5MTHF, a more active and bioavailable form of folate can help support cardiovascular health, nerve function and biosynthesis of neurotransmitters. This activated form of folate can be helpful for those with genetic variations that make it difficult to convert folic acid to 5MTHF. 5MTHF participates in many methylization reactions, and is essential for converting homocysteine to methionine.

Metabolic Maintenance has formulated 5MTHF (L-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate) based on scientific research to provide nutritional support for individuals. The more bio-available form of 5MTHF is now offered in a variety of doses for your convenience.

There is some concern with higher doses of folic acid masking vitamin B-12 deficiencies. However, supplementing with 5-MTHF instead of folic acid helps avoid this potential problem. A few drugs can interfere with the pharmacokinetics of folic acid. It is always important to work closely with a qualified medical professional to evaluate and determine clinical improvements.
